Analog Outputs

Your RevPi MIO has eight analog outputs, with which you can output voltage in reference to the system ground. Here you can connect actuators such as setting elements or final control elements for controllers (mechanical, optical, thermal, electromagnetic etc.). Each output can deliver voltages between 0 V and 10 V. You will also find these values in the process image. However, they are stated here in millivolts (0-10.000 mV).

Analog Outputs as Digital Outputs

Alternatively you can also use the analog outputs to deliver a constant, preconfigured voltage. In this way you can apply these connections as digital outputs and use logic levels up to 10 V.

Ground

For the analog outputs the 28-pin connector strip has a system ground connection, which is interconnected on the module. The system ground connection ensures that all the devices have the same reference potential. If you do not connect the system ground, your output values may be distorted.

All outputs refer to the system ground as reference potential.

Connect the system ground and the ground from the external voltage input, from your controller for example, with low impedance. That is the only way you can be sure that the outputted voltage corresponds to the value you have specified.

Note: All voltage outputs and all voltage inputs refer to the same system ground. Different grounds on external voltage inputs or outputs that are not connected externally can cause the device to be destroyed.

Note: Never apply voltage to the analog outputs. This can cause the device to be destroyed. It is essential to comply with the following wiring table when connecting a device.
