List of out of the box Wifi adaptors

Do you have a list of recommended Wifi dongles that will work out of the box without all the hassle of compiling drivers?
(This will become an issue over time because raspberry 4 has on board Wifi)

Hi Alberto,

we do not have a list of working USB WiFi dongles as these lists tends to be very volatile. Sometimes hardware manufacturers change the chips between releases and therefore list are often outdated.

Personally I have good experience with the following devices:
  • Edimax EW-7811UN (chipset r8712u)
  • CSL 300262 (chipset r8712u)

Does the Edimax EW-7811UN supposed to work like plug and play ?
or drivers should be installed and if so do you have access to the drivers.
I'll be grateful for any help
