Mine is still 1.4.2 so far. Will that make any difference?

Yes,that shall make piCtory realise that the config.rsc is from current version.
Actually there is a fix in pictory (1.4.3-0) relating to Modbus RTU

* Fixed: Modbus Master RTU files had false multi length of 'Output Bit' value (48 instead of 32); fixed in RAP-Files (ModbusRTUMaster_20180122_1_1.rap, ModbusRTUMaster_20180406_1_2.rap)

If you create a new config and save it you shall see current pictory version being used.Use the same one in your config.rsc file.
There has been modification in ModbusRTU Master device json array in the piCtory versions and this needs to be updated
in the old config.rsc file as part of upgrade.

So I shall change it in my original OLD config from 1.4.2 to 1.4.4? Sorry I am a bit confused. You said I shall change it from 1.4.3 to 1.4.4 in the file with an editor. I said for me it says 1.4.2 in the config file. Shall I still change it from 1.4.2 to 1.4.4 by hand or will that break stuff?

Sorry for the ambiguity. Create a new dummy config with piCtory (just say a connect device) and save it with some name. Check which version piCtory is saving that config.rsc.
Then change your original config.rsc by hand to the same version as that which is found in previous step.It might be version 1.4.3 or 1.4.4.
