RevPi as USB gadget - KVM, piKVM

Post by LOste »

Hi guys, first time on the forum.
I'm an IT manager and a Raspberry enthusiast :P .
I'm currently playing with a RevPi Connect 4.

I would like to use a RevPi to control the keyboard, mouse and video of a workstation.
Is there any solution like PiKVM for any RevPi model?
I mean this:
https://pikvm.org/

PiKVM allows me to grab video output of the workstation and emulate Keyboard and Mouse through USB, with no intervention on the workstation target (no LAN, no agent, nothing).
Can I flash PiKVM on a RevPi model, or are there packages to install on RevPi OS that do the same thing?

Thank you so much for your great work!

Hi,

sounds like an interesting use case, but unfortunately this is not possible, as the RevPi has no HDMI input.

Hi nicolaiB, thank you for your answer!
With the RasPi, piKVM allows to use an HDMI video capture dongle (USB device), connected to an USB port (not the USB-C), and that's how I use it. And I see that the capture dongle is recognised by the RevPi too (with ffmpeg, for example).
Can this give hope that it will somehow work?
