AIO Proximity Sensor

Post by jassa »

Hi,

I am trying to read a distance using an AIO module and this sensor: https://www.ifm.com/mounting/80237716UK.pdf

German version here if you need it: https://www.ifm.com/mounting/80237716DE.pdf

I have set Input1Range to 0 - 10v and I have the brown (24v) and blue (gnd) sensor wires connected to a power source. I have then connected the black (out1) and white (out2) sensor wires to inputs 24 and 28. I've left 26 empty as I'm measuring voltage, not current.

When I read the Input1 value, I'm only seeing a value when the sensor is in range, and then another value when the sensor is out of range but I'm not getting any analog readings in between. It's like it's a digital reading of on/off instead of the voltage? Do you have any ideas?

Hello Jassa,

you need to check your wiring.
You can wire the sensor as shown in the figure below.

I think the range of output 1 and output 2 is 0-24V. The AIO cuts off after 10V. You can connect a voltage divider with the factor 2.4 and then calculate the correct value.
