RevPi Connect Isolation

Post by jrileycaban »

I see in the schematics that it looks like the +24V supply input ground (GND_P) appears to be isolated from signal ground (GND) with only a capacitor (C123) in between the two.

I would like to use the Conbridge SPI/UART outputs for some additional features, but I would like to reference those circuits to +24V/GND_P. Is there any concern about externally tying GND and GND_P together on a separate board? Why are they isolated?

Hi jrileycaban,

the GND and GND_P is isolated in order to protect the device in case of faulty wiring (reverse polarity, vagrant currents, ...). If you can make sure that the device is wired according to our specifications there shouldn't be any issue with connecting the two GND's.
