Hello,
We are looking to connect 3 MODBUS devices to a single RevPi Connect and do not want to use USB-to-RS485 adapter dongles. We are considering using the Serial Gateway extension. My question is, can we connect two separate RS485 source circuits to a single Serial Gateway, or do we need two Gateways? We are looking at Item no. 100068
Adding multiple RS-485 connections to RevPi Core
Re: Adding multiple RS-485 connections to RevPi Core
Hi jdalbora,
the Revolution Pi Connect comes already with one RS485 interface, which can be used for Modbus RTU with our virtual devices. On Modbus RTU master can have control multiple slaves on the same line (each device has an individual address).
The mentioned serial gateway (PN 100068) is a slave device for serial networks, but not Modbus RTU. If you want to use the Revolution Pi as a slave you can use our Modbus RTU slave gateway (PN 100090). With the Connect you can use one gateway (pibridge on the left side, must be located at the outside left) or with our Core/Core3 base device two gateways (one at each side, located at the outside).
