Rev Pi Core 3 -no IP connection over FritzBox

Post by Matthias68 »

I have a used RevPi Core 3 (Ident. No: 100257) with an unknown image. I would like to configure it headless on my Windows 10 PC via Ethernet as a VPN server. When connecting to my FritzBox 7530 the LEDs show data exchange but neither the FritzBox nor the Advanced IP Scanner show the RevPi as a network participant. How do I get a connection to the RevPi without HDMI (have no Micro-HDMI) and USB?

Hi so if you have a unknown state of the device why don't just reset it to factory defaults? You can save the actual image first as a backup.

How to Safe and Install a new Image

1) Optionally - Save the acutal image
2) Download the newest compatible image from the shop
3) Write the image

Hi Dirk,
so I do. And just like with the IP problem, the RevPi is not shown to me when I connect it to the PC via USB. In the device manager only as "other devices" but without drivers.
Another way to hard reset available?

Hi Matthias68, what does the output or RPiBoot.exe show? Did you follow the right steps 1 connect MicroUSB with your PC 2) start RPiBoot.ext 3) Power the RevPi?
There is also a made with love video tutorial here: Tutorial 01 – Creation of an image

Hi Dirk, after a visit at the 1. Automation-Trade Fair in 2020 (AAA Essen) I releas the next steps.
Unfortunately, I get stuck again.
- Stretch image created
- USB drive letter available via RPIboot
Now WIN32DI (1.0) aborts with the error message "Error 5: Access denied".
I have set up full access to the USB drive in Explorer.
Still the error message. And LED A1 on RevPi is RED.
Any idea?

Hi Matthias68, do you have a security suite that blocks the access to the USB device? Could you try it with a live Ubuntu? I have had those kind of errors with the security suite sometimes on my office workstation. So basically the point is can you try it with an other workstation or environment?
